Embarrassing isn’t it? “You’ll see Graham, you”ll all see!” was what my father once proclaimed while running away into the night with our last VCR. He was sure we would need it someday. I hate it when old people are right. THE HOUSE OF THE DEVIL is a movie that you should definitely see. Unfortunately I missed it until earlier this year and therefore felt too lazy to go back and put it on the list of films you should have seen in 2009.
The movie tells the story of a college girl trying to earn some cash for a deposit on an apartment that she accepts a babysitting job even after she finds out there is no baby. She slowly realizes her clients have a terrifying secret; they plan to use her in a satanic ritual…time to change your shorts.
The best thing about the film is that it was shot in the style of a 1980’s horror film. It uses the filming techniques and technology of that era. It looks like a Jason movie let’s just say. Fantastic for this day in age when people are trying to up each other with special effects.
