Ethan Hawke Confirms BEFORE SUNSET Follow-Up

November last year we told you about the potential of another sequel to Before Sunrise, Richard Linklater, Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy had been reportedly discussing a sequel and were going to try and write the screenplay for this year.  Almost ten years separated the first two films, and now it’s almost another decade since Before Sunset, this would be some great timing.

Hawke has now confirmed that he and his longtime collaborator Richard Linklater would be shooting a follow-up to their critically acclaimed films Before Sunrise and Before Sunset this summer.  In an interview with IndieWire about his sexual thriller The Woman in the Fifth, Hawke discussed his ongoing project with Linklater shooting a film tracing a boy’s life from 1st grade to 12th grade called The 12-Year Project.

“We’re also doing a follow-up to Before Sunrise and Before Sunset, so that will be fun,” added Hawke. “We’re going to shoot that this summer.”

Hawke didn’t comment further on details when asked where the new film would be set. “I’ve gotten into trouble, so I’m sworn to secrecy,” he said.

If indie romance is a recognized genre, these movies are the reason.  Check them out as soon as you can.
