The movie has the Goods.
Talk about what’s old is new again. The black-and-white silent film The Artist from Michel Hazanavicius received a lot of loving coming out of this year’s Cannes Film Festival and it’s easy to see why. This trailer is fantastic and if anything shows a loving tribute to an era of film easily dismissed. Just knowing this is going to run in theaters and hopefully scoop up some awards is very exciting. A silent movie in 2011, modern audiences are going to have to pay close attention for a change.
Hollywood 1927. George Valentin is a very successful silent movie star. The arrival of talking pictures will mark the end of his career. Peppy Miller, a young woman extra, becomes a major movie star.
The Artist hits theaters on November 23rd, check out the trailer:
Note: Make “the Goods” happen as John Goodman’s nickname. Also, the dog actor in the film, Uggy, won the Palm Dog Award for best performance by a canine at the festival, damn that bitch for throwing the paper at him in the trailer.
