Yes, I refuse to call this a reboot, there was one film made with some very poor choices (I don’t consider Ben Affleck one of them), a retry is what it is. Director David Slade perhaps best known for Eclipse and 30 Days of Night has been hired to direct the new Daredevil film. [THR]
Slade took to Twitter to end speculation that this would be a continuation: “It will bare [sic] no relation to the previous Daredevil movie in any way.”
Instead, the story will reportedly follow Daredevil’s Born Again series written by Frank Miller of Sin City and 300 fame and published in 1986. In the 7-issue arc, Matt Murdock (a.k.a. Daredevil) is driven to the brink of madness by the nefarious Kingpin, who barters for the hero’s identity and uses it to destroy Murdock’s personal life. Well I guess if you’re going to do something you should do it right, doing it justice is a whole other ball game.
Slade was supposedly the front-runner for the director’s chair The Wolverine, but Darren Aronofsky stepped in, and then recently quit the gig. We shall see if Slade becomes front-runner again.
