Out of most of the event at Comic-con this year, I kept going back to three major developments. A Nightmare on Elm Street, now don’t get me wrong – I don’t think this reboot/remake/re-imagination was necessary, but from what I have heard from production excerpts, they seem to be doing things right. Now I saw what they did with Friday The 13th first hand opening weekend; and I was pissed. Don’t do it to me again Bay. Where the Wild Things Are, this is looking to be a best movie of the year contender, everything I want from a movie. This flick is going to touch me all over I just know it. And finally…leave it to crazy Gary Oldman to open his mouth and potentially give out some Batman 3 news that he was not supposed to.
Batman 3 – One person asked the obvious question: when’s the next BATMAN movie? And Gary replied: “We start shooting next year. You didn’t hear that from me.” And there you have it! From Oldman himself, the next BATMAN movie, if started next year, should be out in 2011! [Read More via JoBlo]
A Nightmare on Elm Street – Filming on the new A Nightmare on Elm Street wrapped two weeks ago, but for the throbbing crowds at Comic Con, the makers of the film cut together some trailer-like footage, shown today in Hall H. Where the Wild Things Are – As the young Max Records steps out onto the stage of Hall H he looks out at a couple thousand people but is more self-possessed than a lot of the adult actors we’ve seen stroll out into the Comic Con spotlight. There’s a brief ‘wow’ but he never looks shaken. Records, who we saw briefly in The Brothers Bloom and stars as Max in Where the Wild Things Are, has a quote from Maurice Sendak written on his hand. “You know I really love this movie and I hope people like it, because if not they can all go straight to hell.” Beyond that Max didn’t talk much; instead he introduced three long clips from Wild Things that suggest the movie is tender, adventurous and, yeah, dark and maybe even a bit dangerous.
