Aaron Schoenke released a Batman fan film City of Scars, the film was shot in less than a month, and for only $27,000, but it looks a lot better than that. I hear the words ‘fan film’ and I immediately think about kids in a backyard shooting phasers at each other, not that there’s anything wrong with that.
City of Scars is a considerable accomplishment, it’s not top notch when it comes to originality and might not be as cool as seeing Batman: Dead End for the first time. Fan films are not perfect, but really, look at what’s playing these days – can we judge? Look for appearances by the Joker, Harley, Mr. Zsasz, Scarface, and the Ventriloquist, and the use of fatal hilarity – an old Joker trick – not the “Funniest Joke In The World“.
