The City Strip #22, MmMm Good
August 30th, 2010 by The Mayor
the city strip

Kevin's morning routine.

The latest issue of The City Strip is up, and it’s based on a true story believe it or not.  We have all been there I’m sure – friends or family, just bringing out the worst of you with their lack of fundamental movie know how.  I suppose there are worse things in the world…anyone?

Enjoy another fun filled week in the city.  Word on the street is that Justice is working on another article [check out her last one], so I guess this means I too will have to roll up the sleeves, crack the knuckles and get some reel work done!

Since it’s so cold where I am today, it reminded me that snow is coming… and then Christmas.  So here’s “A Pilkington Christmas” for no real reason. Read the rest of this entry »

Trailer: The Freebie
August 27th, 2010 by The Mayor

freebie

The Freebie was acclaimed at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival and we now have a trailer to show off. The film was written, directed and stars Katie Aselton as one half of a young couple in Los Angeles who try to spice up their marriage by allowing each other a one-night “freebie.” I instantly thought of the running story from season 4 of Curb Your Enthusiasm, but this film looks to take it a lot more seriously. Watch the trailer now embedded after the jump. Please leave your thoughts in the comments below. Read the rest of this entry »

No Avatar Sequel Until At Least 2014
August 26th, 2010 by The Mayor

AvatarIn an interview with the New York Post, director James Cameron said he’s still in the “notes” stage of his production of Avatar 2, and the sequel won’t be completed until at least 2014. But it may be worth the wait, since the director plans on filming a third film at the same time.  He goes on to burn The Matrix, which I found comical.  Sounds like Cameron has a trilogy on his hands here, I just don’t see this as the type to hold people back from taking the toys out of the package if you get my drift.

“Right now, the thinking is that [Parts] Two and Three are going to be done together, they’ll be released separately, probably a year apart or maybe even two, but they’ll be done in a bunch. I’m mapping out the story line right now, so there’s a proper arc that plays out over two films but buttons nicely at the end of Two, so you don’t get this horrible second-act/end-of-’The Matrix’ feeling.”

Back To The Future Trilogy Blu-Ray Trailer
August 26th, 2010 by The Mayor

Back to the Future Blu-RayThe Back to the Future trilogy is finally coming to Blu-Ray on October 26th 2010.  Here’s the trailer for the 25th Anniversary Special edition.

Writer/Producer Bob Gale had this to say about the conversion: The HD transfers for all three films are simply breath-taking, they actually look better than they did in the theater because of the incredible job that was done on dirt clean-up. (And the film grain is preserved, so they still look like movies should look.)

We listed all the specs for the DVD and Blu-Ray here.  You can get your copy ordered with savings at Amazon here (.ca) and here (.com).  I got mine and felt better about myself, don’t you want the same? Read the rest of this entry »

Angelina Jolie To Write And Direct Feature
August 25th, 2010 by The Mayor

angelina jolieAngelina Jolie is set to make her feature film directorial debut.   A love story set during the Bosnian war, the film focuses on a Serbian man and a Bosnian woman who meet on the eve of the war and the effect the war has on their relationship.  Based on an original screenplay written by Jolie, the actors will be solely compromised of various ethnicities from the region of the former Yugoslavia.

Angelina will write, produce and direct the film, she is working on the movie with GK Films, which made the announcement on its website.  Say what you will about the woman, her movies are usually entertaining enough, and she does a lot of good work outside the film industry (without cameras following her every move).  She’s better than me is what I’m getting at.  Jolie will not be in the film, and filming is expected to take place this fall.
