The Freebie was acclaimed at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival and we now have a trailer to show off. The film was written, directed and stars Katie Aselton as one half of a young couple in Los Angeles who try to spice up their marriage by allowing each other a one-night “freebie.” I instantly thought of the running story from season 4 of Curb Your Enthusiasm, but this film looks to take it a lot more seriously. Watch the trailer now embedded after the jump. Please leave your thoughts in the comments below. (more…)

The Back to the Future trilogy is finally coming to Blu-Ray on October 26th 2010. Here’s the trailer for the 25th Anniversary Special edition.
Writer/Producer Bob Gale had this to say about the conversion: The HD transfers for all three films are simply breath-taking, they actually look better than they did in the theater because of the incredible job that was done on dirt clean-up. (And the film grain is preserved, so they still look like movies should look.)
We listed all the specs for the DVD and Blu-Ray here. You can get your copy ordered with savings at Amazon here (.ca) and here (.com). I got mine and felt better about myself, don’t you want the same? (more…)
James Cameron took time out of his money counting busy schedule to show off the 3D camera rig that he helped develop to film Avatar. Cameron shared some of the rig’s tech specs, notably syaing the rig weighs 28 lbs, and Cameron claims that he did all the hand-held camera work on Avatar himself. Sure, and Grizzly Adams had a beard. Fox Searchlight has a trailer for the Danny Boyle-directed 127 Hours, the survival tale of mountain climber Aron Ralston, who amputated his own arm to free himself after being trapped by a boulder for nearly five days.
Here is the official plot synopsis: (trailer after the jump)

My single most anticipated movie of the last two years has finally arrived, was it worth the wait? I stayed clear of any form of spoilers and reviews, even shying away from clips posted online. Cemetery Junction was released on home video (only theatrical in the UK earlier this year) on August 17th; I bought the DVD (Blu-ray had nothing special) and hurried home. I watched the feature, the extras and then the feature once more with commentary by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant. Here is my reaction: (more…)
Here is a collection of links from across the net that may be film, TV and or entertainment related.
- A sequel to Piranha 3-D is happening. Good, we need to make sure Elisabeth Shue eats. [EW]
- A Google movie is happening now, now we just need a IMDB movie and the trifecta of crap is complete. [NIF]
- J.J. Abrams is making a 7-minutes in Heaven movie. It sounds good don’t worry; two teens at a party play 7 Minutes in Heaven, and when they emerge from the closet, everyone else in the house is dead. They clearly stole this idea from my sweet sixteen. [NME]
- Jessica Alba to Star in Spy Kids 4. Whoa slow down egg head; there was a 2nd one? [comingsoon]
- 30 Unexpected Movie Deaths, with videos! [totalfilm]
- Special DVD features revealed for Pixar’s Toy Story 3 and Mater’s Tall Tales. Bought. [/Film]
- Conan O’Brien is releasing two albums, I don’t know where to go with that. [LATimes]
When Shia LaBeouf isn’t publicly badmouthing Indiana Jones, he is telling people that he’s been talking to Spielberg about a fifth Indiana Jones film, that the screenplay is being written, that Spielberg “pitched” the idea to him, and that it sounds “crazy” and “really cool.”
Crystal Skull made nearly $800 million worldwide and brought about lots of discussion about whether or not it was ever necessary (it wasn’t) and if it was any good (it was OK). My thoughts on a fifth one are more or less the same; we don’t really need it (but I guess we have to see Mutt grow up) but it will probably be fun. Lucas get your 3D digital effects ready big boy! As a bonus, the video below will make you angry. Do we need a 5th Indy Citizens? (more…)
