THE LEGO MOVIE Trailer – Yes, Lego Movie

Every so often there’s a joke that goes around the City of Films office involving me and Lego. I’d show you the X-ray but this is a family site. I’ll wait for that to sink in…there you go.
I’m kidding, it has to do with my fondness for Lego themed video games (hey, it says ages 10 and UP people!). First I’ll probably need to come out and admit that…I am not a gamer. In fact, I’ve gone my entire life without owning a console of any sort (I do have a Nintendo DS now, does that count?). My girlfriend does own several consoles however and we got into playing Lego Star Wars together and found it to be a ridiculous amount of fun, mostly because you don’t have to be very good to play it.
Both Graham and Ryan play more games than I do, not that it’s hard to, and every so often they’ll have conversations about what games they’re playing now and I’ll be awkwardly silent before piping in with “have they made a Lego version?” They laugh at me.
Well you know what they’ve made a Lego version of now fellas?? A MOVIE! That’s right, and you can check out the first trailer for The Lego Movie, as well as my thoughts on it, after the jump!
New Trailer for ANCHORMAN 2: THE LEGEND CONTINUES

Here is the new trailer for Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues, or rather as I said out loud during the trailer “oh hey it’s Baxter!”. Truth be told: I laughed once in the trailer, and that was at the racism. I don’t think Veronica Corningstone is around this time around (she is seen once in the trailer I counted) as Ron is dating a new lovely lady. Brick is as slow as ever, and that’s a good thing. These could all be good things, it’s hard to tell if they will recapture the funny in the sequel. What do you think reader?
The film stars Will Ferrell, Christina Applegate, Paul Rudd, Steve Carell, David Koechner, Kristen Wiig, James Marsden, Dylan Baker, Meagan Good, Greg Kinnear, and Harrison Ford.
Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues opens on December 20th.
With the 70′s behind him, San Diego’s top rated newsman, Ron Burgundy (Will Ferrell), returns to the news desk in “Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues.” Also back for more are Ron’s co-anchor and wife, Veronica Corningstone (Christina Applegate), weather man Brick Tamland (Steve Carell), man on the street Brian Fantana (Paul Rudd) and sports guy Champ Kind (David Koechner) – All of whom won’t make it easy to stay classy…while taking New York’s first 24-hour news channel by storm.

Trailer for Martin Scorsese’s THE WOLF OF WALL STREET Starring Leonardo DiCaprio

Here is the first trailer for director Martin Scorsese’s upcoming drama The Wolf of Wall Street based on the memoir of Jordan Belfort. The great looking film stars Leonardo DiCaprio as a hard-partying, drug-addicted stockbroker who was indicted in 1998 for security fraud and money laundering and served a 22-month federal prison stretch. It looks like one big party in the trailer, just check out Jonah Hill’s teeth – out of control!
The film also stars Kyle Chandler, Matthew McConaughey, Jean Dujardin, Margot Robbie, Jon Bernthal, and Rob Reiner.
The Wolf of Wall Street opens on November 15th, watch the trailer below:
KILLING SEASON Trailer – Why De Niro, Why?
Robert De Niro as an American war veteran. John Travolta as a Serbian war veteran with a funny beard. Both alone in the woods as they try to kill each other and settle old scores. Sold, or so you’d think. This trailer for Killing Season unfortunately doesn’t do much to sell the film. In fact if it weren’t for the cast, I’d be convinced that this was a direct-to-DVD affair. It doesn’t really offer up much reason as to why these actors even signed on. Who knows though, this could end up being a fun flick. Oh who am I kidding, it won’t.

Second ELYSIUM Trailer Brings The Epic
A second trailer for Elysium has been released and I just have to say…WOW! This film is looking fantastic so far. Neill Blomkamp’s first film, District 9, was one of the more original science fiction films to come around in years and Elysium is looking like it’s going to blow it out of the water. This trailer successfully sells something epic, intelligent, and most of all…something that looks like a heck of a lot of fun.
Teaser Trailer for new HBO series True Detective
The first teaser trailer is out for HBO’s new crime series titled True Detective. It stars Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson as 2 detectives investigating a murder. The story covers a large amount of time from 1995-2012 in what looks like the south judging from the trailer. Season one will consist of eight episode. If the reception is positive and additional episodes are ordered – subsequent seasons will cover completely different crimes with different characters.
I know we can’t tell much from the trailer, but HBO has a track record of quality programming with their crime drama (The Sopranos and The Wire immediately come to mind). Does anyone else thing that Matthew McConaughey doesn’t even look like himself in this trailer?
We don’t have a release date, all we know is it is coming in 2014.
300: RISE OF AN EMPIRE Trailer – Speed Ramping? You Betcha
The first trailer for 300: Rise of an Empire is here and the general consensus seems to be…”that doesn’t look as bad as I thought it would”. Rise of an Empire is the sequel to the Zach Synder directed 300, although the events of this film seem to take place before, during, and after the events of that film. So…it’s both a prequel, a midquel, and a sequel.
Judging by this trailer, they’ve definitely expanded the world from the first film, and it looks as though we’ll be in for a whole lot of naval battles this time around. So if you enjoyed 300 it looks like you’re in for more of the same here, just bigger and louder.

YOU LOVED PRINCESS DIANA!!! Says This Trailer for DIANA.
The movie Diana will be released in the United Kingdom September 20th, and we have this very kind and made-for-TV like trailer for it. Directed by Oliver Hirschbiegel (Downfall) and starring Naomi Watts as Princess Diana, the story focuses on the final two years of the late princess’ life, specifically centering on her secret affair with heart surgeon Dr. Hasnat Kahn, played by Naveen Andrews (Lost).
I don’t know a lot about Princess Diana. She died that weekend and SNL was postponed, I was young. My Dad had a lot of negative things to say about her; whenever she went to these war torn places where the kids are dying and not eating, she would be wearing fancy dresses and jewelry. “Where’s her rags?!” he would ask. Yes, where are her rags?

Trailer for THE HOBBIT: THE DESOLATION OF SMAUG
Here is the first trailer for director Peter Jackson‘s The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug. It’s a pretty extensive trailer and fans of the first entry into this trilogy should like it. I didn’t see The Hobbit, am I allowed to say that?
Orlando Bloom (Legolas), Evangeline Lilly (Tauriel), Lee Pace (Thranduil), and Luke Evans (Bard the Bowman), as well as the titular dragon Smaug are all here.
The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug opens in 2D, 3D, IMAX, and HFR (48 frames-per-second) on December 13th.
