Reel: Movie Middle Fingers Supercut

Tuesday, January 31st, 2012

Here is a rather cool supercut of movie characters flipping the bird to get you in the mood for your drive home today.  My favorite would have to be Jennifer Aniston’s finger to the boss in Office Space at the 0:59 mark.  The music ofcourse is fitting, Cee Lo Green’s “F*ck You!”  So this may be NSFW, enjoy.

One of my all-time favorite movies is Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, it’s as re-watchable for me as Groundhog Day or Goodfellas.  The idea of a sequel is somewhat absurd now, as John Hughes has left us and obviously recapturing that time in one’s life like leaving High School is a once in a lifetime feeling, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off is one of a kind.  Well, Bueller may be making a return – in commercial form.

Super Bowl XLVI is set to take place on February 5th (on NBC), that is the date at the end of this somewhat mysterious video that hit the Internet.

UPDATE: Watch the commercial below – Directed by Todd Phillips (The Hangover), the ad is for the Honda CR-V. A shorter version will play during the Super Bowl on Sunday.

Our beloved comic creator Kevin has been sick for awhile now, he’s told me he is better which is good.  The guy manged to make a comic for us this week, and it’s really great if you ask me.  You didn’t ask me, so go see for yourself over here.

If you missed it, Ryan started off our week last night with a splendid “What We Know” article about the upcoming James Bond film Skyfall.  Check out his post here.

god-bless-america-bobcatBobcat Goldthwait has become an acclaimed writer and director of black comedies like World’s Greatest Dad [my review] and God Bless America looks to be his best yet.  Watch the red-band trailer below to see for yourself.

It’s like a fun version of Natural Born Killers where instead of some innocent folks getting killed, we have the likes of a double-parking jerk and a spoiled rich kid.

Here’s the synopsis for God Bless America:

Loveless, jobless and possibly terminally ill, Frank has had enough of the downward spiral of America. With nothing left to lose, Frank takes his gun and decides to off the stupidest, cruelest and most repellent members of society with an unusual accomplice: 16-year-old Roxy, who shares his sense of rage and disenfranchisement.

God Bless America will be released on VOD on April 6 before a limited theatrical run beginning on May 11.  Watch the trailer below:

Here is the new trailer for The Hunter starring Willem Dafoe who plays a man hired to track and hunt the last remaining Tasmanian Tiger…you heard me.  The trailer is actually pretty cool and you can’t go wrong with Dafoe or Sam Neill.  Check out the trailer below, the film was directed by Daniel Nettheim.  The Hunter will be available VOD on March 2nd, and hits theaters April 6th.

Martin is a skilled and ruthless mercenary sent into the Tasmanian wilderness on a hunt for a tiger believed to be extinct. Hired by an anonymous company that wants the tiger’s genetic material, Martin proceeds to set up base camp at a broken-down farmhouse, where he stays with a family whose father has gone missing. Martin becomes increasingly close to the family; however, as his attachment to the family grows, Martin is led down a path of unforeseen dangers, complicating his deadly mission.

What We Know About SKYFALL

Skyfall

Whether it was the 99 cent bargain bin VHS tapes at Superstore, or the annual TBS marathon, I have been a huge fan of the James Bond franchise since I was of a young age. Needless to say, when Skyfall was announced I was beyond excited. Daniel Craig is back for round 3, officially having him surpass Timothy Dalton, and eclipse George Lazenby in the 007 mythology.

While Casino Royale breathed new life into the franchise, Quantum of Solace seemed to take it away. With that being said, Skyfall doesn’t seem to be getting the press that I, and many fellow Bond fans, feel it deserves. Finding any news requires a lot of Google searches, and cross referencing (yes a bit of an exaggeration).

With that long winded description out of the way, consider this your one stop shop for all things Skyfall. As news and releases become available, we will be posting them. This page will be updated frequently. So without further ado..

Welcome to The CoF Weekend Preview, here is a look at what’s opening this weekend for wide and limited releases.  Check back Monday for a new City Strip.  There are a lot of great movies coming out this year, so we all picked Our Top 5 Movies To See In 2012 and listed other notable releases for you.

The GreyRT (76%) – Trailer

With the buzz and hype surrounding this movie, it has a great chance of making it to #1 this weekend.  Liam Neeson has become pretty popular over the last few years with people of all ages – and this movie looks like it will satisfy both parties.  Did I mention he’ has tapped glass on his knuckles so he can punch some wolves in the face?

Man on a LedgeRT (22%) – Trailer

I’m not a fan of anyone in this movie, and it looks boring as hell on top of that.  Needs some wolves if you ask me.

One for the MoneyRT (0%) – Trailer

Does anyone like Katherine Heigl?  She’s her own worst enemy and it’s that time again for her to take her bumps as another movie she stars in bombs.  Where did all the hate start?  Probably when she said her writers on Grey’s Anatomy sucked [source].  Next time star in a movie with angry wolves.

*In 2009 PETA euthanized 2,301 dogs and cats — 97 percent of those brought in — and adopted only eight, according to Virginia state figures [source].  On their own site, PETA advises euthanizing pets, even healthy ones, as opposed to finding them a new home [seriously].  PETA is very vocal and has a lot of people interested due to their naked celebrities on posters campaign.  The trouble is the celebrities that do these ads can’t read too well or think for themselves.  Now I’m going to go watch Liam Neeson beat up some computer-generated wolves.*

trailers

Everyone loves movie trailers; we can’t get enough of them here in The City of Films. It’s an art form that stands alone from the film itself and has a remarkable power to move us. Trailers can give us chills, laughs, goose bumps and some even anger us. We can’t always post them all, so here’s where we play catch up; watch More Trailers:

THE WALKING DEAD Midseason Trailer

Thursday, January 26th, 2012

the-walking-dead

Let’s hope this intense promo trailer is a sign of things to come for the final six episodes of the season; less walking and talking please is what I’m saying.

The final six episodes The Walking Dead star February 12th, watch the trailer below.  I enjoy the show, I do, but you can’t bore us for four hours then pull off something really cool to make up for it, it’s frustrating.  I enjoy a mixed bag of character arcs and zombies getting their heads blown away, this can be easy to pull off with a show such as this.
